Paula Cooley

Paula Cooley

Paula Cooley has been working with clay for ¬¬¬over 15 years and teaching with the Guild since 2010. Paula is a graduate of the SIAST Ceramics Diploma program and holds a BFA from University of Saskatchewan. She continues her learning through workshops, residencies and mentorships. A thrower and maker of functional works, Paula also uses hand building techniques to create sculptures and one-of-a-kind works. She incorporates other media such as metal and glass in her designs. Her passion for clay is fueled by curiosity: she is always looking at new forms, surfaces and ways of creating.

Eli Fernandez

Eli Fernandez

Eli Fernandez took her first pottery class at the Guild in 2000 and joined as a working member the same year. Since then she has actively worked to improve her pottery skills through many hours on the wheel, reading and taking classes and workshops. She has taught Beginner and Intermediate Wheel Throwing classes through SPG since 2007. Eli has regularly participated in the SPG’s Annual Juried Members’ Exhibition and has received several “Best Functional Piece” awards over the years for her crisp and elegant work. As Eli explains, she is happiest when she is “making utilitarian pots, attempting to marry simple lines, beauty and functionality.”

Larissa Higgs

Larissa Higgs

Larissa started classes in 2013 and quickly fell back in love with pottery. In 2016 she became a member the Saskatoon Potters Guild and spends her time working on both thrown and hand built pieces. Her pieces are inspired by everyday objects, Mid-Century Modern Design and an insatiable need to play and experiment with clay. She also enjoys making playful ceramics for her nieces (little tea sets mostly). She enjoys the flow and quiet of throwing; however, loves the freedom and variety of hand building.

Lois Klaassen

Lois Klaassen

Lois Klaassen has been potting for more than 20 years. Lois got her start taking classes in Medicine Hat and then in Saskatoon as well as numerous workshops. She taught various classes including hand-building and throwing classes for adults and children. She attends as many workshops as she can, saying she always learns something new.

Janice Schiman

Janice Schiman

Janice Schiman has been working with clay for over twenty years and teaching for more than ten. She has been an SPG member for 3 years and before that belonged to the Moose Jaw Pottery Club. Janice likes to learn and has attended more than 8 workshops at the Red Deer College Series. Her clay passion is exploring new techniques through taking workshops and watching YouTube videos and, of course, teaching.
